Online findings

Dutch registration from new

Dates match

RDW, the Dutch vehicle register, records both first registration and first Dutch registration as 16 October 2021. There is no later Dutch import date to explain. The registered Toyota estate, 1.8-litre engine and grey colour match the advert.

Previous owners

2 reported

A public plate report lists 2 previous owners for N-100-HF. Its timeline also shows brief registration changes in July and August 2026; ask the seller whether those were trade transfers.

Mileage record

Recorded readings rise

RDW reports “Logisch”: the readings it holds increase in sequence, with a reading registered in 2026. This supports the mileage history. The advert's 132,266 km is still a seller-provided reading; the detailed RDW report will show the actual dates and numbers.

Registration & recalls

Positive register results

The record says a change of registered keeper is possible, the car is not marked exported, and no open recall is flagged. A recall is a manufacturer repair campaign.

APK deadline

No renewal rush

The APK, the periodic Dutch roadworthiness test, is valid until 16 October 2027. That removes an immediate test deadline.

Seller identity

Branch independently found

Toyota's dealer directory and BOVAG's member page both identify Louwman Rotterdam at the advertised address.

Everyday usefulness

Practical specification

RDW identifies a petrol/electric hybrid that does not plug in, with five seats and a 750 kg braked-trailer limit. It suits a buyer without home charging; check that towing limit carefully if you have a caravan. The advert also lists a reversing camera, heated front seats and adaptive cruise control.

The three things your phone call needs to resolve: evidence of servicing; the condition of the batteries, tyres and brakes; and the exact work and warranty included in the purchase price. These are normal next checks, not faults we have found.

Is EUR 21,950 a good price?

It is a dealer-premium price, rather than an obvious bargain. The closest alternative below has 16,814 fewer advertised kilometres and costs EUR 550 less after adding its advertised warranty and preparation package. The difference is small enough for service, condition and aftercare to decide the better purchase.

Our negotiation approach: try ask for EUR 21,000–21,500 with the included advertised warranty, documented servicing up to date and battery check.

What matters about this model

Watch the small battery

Ask for a test

ADAC identifies the 12-volt starter battery as a breakdown cause for Corolla registration years 2019–2023. This is the small battery powering the car's electrical systems, separate from the hybrid battery. Ask for a recent load-test result and replacement history. This is a model-level check to prioritise, not a fault diagnosed on this car.

Service timing matters

Resolve before agreeing price

Toyota describes servicing at 15,000 km or one year. A service invoice tells us whether that work is still ahead, already done early, or due sooner by date. “Dealer maintained” in the advert does not answer that question.

Potential warranty value

A useful benefit to establish

Toyota offers service-activated cover for eligible cars up to 10 years / 200,000 km. This car is within those age and mileage limits, but its actual cover must be confirmed. Hybrid-battery cover follows a separate check/certificate process. Get the cover dates and conditions in writing; an advertised BOVAG warranty and Toyota cover are different arrangements.

Safety background

Five stars in the 2019 test

This Corolla generation achieved five Euro NCAP stars in 2019. It is a useful historical result; the rating is now expired as the testing standards have moved on. During inspection, check the fitted safety systems and any evidence of crash repair.

Road tax

EUR 217 per quarter in Zuid-Holland — approximately EUR 72 per month or EUR 868 per year. This 2026 amount is based on the Corolla's petrol/electric hybrid fuel type and 1,345 kg unladen weight.

A non-plug-in hybrid has no separate road-tax rate and is assessed like another petrol car of the same weight. The amount depends on the province where the registered keeper lives; recalculate it before issuing the report if the buyer is registered outside Zuid-Holland or the applicable tax year has changed.

The phone call that decides whether to visit

1. “Is the car still available, and what is its mileage today?”

Ask them to provide the full VIN so all documents and recall checks can be matched to the same car.

2. “When was its last service, what was done, and will you include the next one?”

This is the most immediate potential cost and an important part of the price negotiation.

Ask them about the car's digital service record. Get any promised service written into the order.

3. “Have you tested both batteries, and what cover will each have when I collect it?”

The model's small 12-volt battery deserves attention, while the expensive hybrid battery has its own test and cover arrangements. A car starting today does not answer either question.

Ask them about a 12-volt load test, hybrid-check certificate and applicable warranty dates.

4. “What exactly does the advertised price include, and what do your checks say about tyres and brakes?”

The advert includes a basic delivery package and BOVAG warranty, but a vehicle check is not the same as completing a scheduled service or replacing worn parts. The cheaper alternative explicitly prices a service package.

5. “What was its previous use, and are any accident, paint or major mechanical repairs known?”

Was the car used by a business, was it a rental car or privately-used?

6. “Can I arrange an independent inspection?”

Ask them to confirm access for an independent inspector. Discuss conditions required for a road test.

How to act on the answers:
Clear records and a sensible delivery package → book the viewing and inspection.
Vague answers → request the specific missing document before travelling.
Refusal to supply essential identity/service evidence or permit an inspection → choose another car.
